65 years

of me.

I turned 65 on October 14, 2025. In honor of such a momentous number, why not share 65 “things” about me? While some are mundane, some are interesting, and some are just for fun. (I started this a while ago, just now got around to finishing it.)

1. Born October 14, 1960 on my Mom’s birthday. She will be 88 this year.

2. Weighed in at 10lbs 5 oz. - (and still needed an incubator)

3. The first place I called home was an apartment, above Mrs. Finney’s.

4. Moved to 1st “house” before kindergarten.

5. 1966 - Brother “drove” the car through the back of the garage with me in it. (I was 6)

6. Attended Bowlesburg Elementary through 2nd grade.

7. Wore adored patent leather “stupid” shoes to school, fell off the top of the slide backwards, “ouch.”

8. Moved to second (last family) home in 3rd grade, lived there through High School graduation in 1978.

9. Age 21, joined the USMC

10. June 1981 - completed Boot Camp, Parris Island, SC

11. June 1981 - OJT Quantico, VA (I was a cook)

12. Aug 1981- Return to Parris Island, SC - permanent personnel - rifle range (let the hearing loss begin)

13. Nov 1984 - Left USMC, moved to Williamsport, PA

14. Got my first VW Bug

15. May 1985 - Daughter #1

16. February 1991 - Daughter #2

17. 1998 - returned to academia

18. 2004- Federal government career began

19. 2014- Met future husband again - (we first met in High School)

20. 2020 - Married on Christmas Eve, on Zoom, during COVID

21. 2020 - Moved into the “cabin” on the river

22. I love salmon

23. I don’t eat dairy

24. I am bicycle rider

25. I have 3 siblings

26. I have a scar on my hand and eyelid from going through a window in a screen door as a child

27. I have freckles (angel kisses)

28. I am an ordained online minister (technically)

29. I love the beach and would live there in a second

30. I wear hearing aids

31. My mother is from England

32. I have never traveled overseas

33. I am a gifter - (love to give gifts)

34. Spicy foods are not my friend.

35. I have two dogs.

36. I love NYC Egg Bagels.

37. I love my glasses.

38. I love vintage clothes.

39. Overalls are functional and cute.

40. I love pickled eggs w/beets

41. I love to laugh.

42. I love live theatre.

43. I love live music.

44. Refinishing furniture is a hobby.

45. I hiked to a glacier - (my husband went inside)

46. I watched a baseball game at night - no lights.

47. I dipped in Chena Hot Springs.

48. I did yoga with reindeer.

49. I have stepped into both the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans.

50. I love marching bands.

51. I have four amazing grandchildren (so far!)

52. I love a good strong hug.

53. My dad served in the Air Force

54. I busted my lip open while burning boxes. (I am graceful if nothing)

55. I dislocated my finger in the great Christmas cookie accident. (I have mentioned my grace?)

56. I have not broken any bones (but wrinkled a few)

57. I have had 4 surgeries.

58. I love the flavor of lemon.

59. My favorite pie - Rhubarb.

60. My favorite bread - Crunchy and buttery

61. I drink Coke.

62. I sip ice tea.

63. I love coffee. (hot or iced)

64. I love to write and dream of being published.
